Life Center Stage presents "Dare to Shine, Dare to Lead," an exciting Open Mic and Expressive Arts program designed to empower youth and support deeper family connections!
The beauty of this unique initiative lies in the “Alchemy of Artistry™” - the transformative nature of the arts from hands on performance and technical instruction. By learning how to navigate and “own the stage,” or taking healthy risks by performing and “daring to shine” onstage, participants gain confidence and greater self esteem. When they are working together with professional sound equipment, they learn team building and leadership skills, all while unlocking their creative potential.
- Empowerment Through Art: Cultivating confidence and self-worth.
- Technical Skills Development: Mastering sound equipment for stage, team building, and life skills
- Performance Training: Building stage presence, public speaking and social skills, self empowerment
- Leadership & Teamwork: Encouraging accountability and support in community events.
- Life Skills: Overcoming stage fright, discovering talents, and embracing artistry and creativity.
- Community Engagement: Making art accessible in public spaces and fostering connections.
Open Mic events promote self-confidence, self-worth, and encourage the discovery of students’ unique strengths while freeing the “inner star” within each of them. As part of Life Center Stage’s “Dare to Shine, Dare to Lead” program for youth and families, students will learn how to set up, produce, perform, and support others in an Open Mic setting.
"Dare to Shine, Dare to Lead" Open Mic Ambassadors learn how to create inclusive and supportive community events that value connection and social engagement, cultivating environments that feel “alive”— where people have a safe place to express. This innovative training will help students develop confidence, improve communication skills, and become proactive leaders, driving positive transformation in their communities.
Students will explore the positive effects of the arts on individual and community well-being. They will also have the opportunity to meet professional artists, public health professionals, and art/music therapists, and learn about various prevention organizations and community resources. This exposure will equip them to further their advocacy efforts within the community.
